The Work of Building Better Futures Starts with Better Systems

R-WEF works alongside young Africans and the people closest to them to design and strengthen the systems that connect them to wellbeing, opportunity, and real, lasting progress.

Who We Are

We exist because young Africans deserve systems that are built around their realities, their potential, and their future.

Our Vision

An Africa where young people thrive in systems that protect wellbeing, enable meaningful work, and sustain community-led solutions.

Our Mission

To strengthen mental wellbeing, expand pathways to empowerment and decent work, and support the sustainability of local organizations by designing people-centered systems that equip young Africans to shape resilient and inclusive futures.

Our Core Pillars

Everything we do is anchored in three things, because we believe lasting change only happens when you address the whole person, not just the problem in front of you.

  • Mental Wellbeing Systems

We build the psychological and emotional foundations that young people need before anything else. No career clarity, no professional skill, no community impact is possible without first feeling safe, seen, and supported. We design wellbeing systems not one-off interventions that create lasting internal safety for young people navigating high-pressure environments.

  • Pathways to Empowerment and Meaningful Work

We connect personal growth directly to real economic opportunity. Our programmes equip young people with professional identity, career clarity, digital skills, and the confidence to enter and thrive in the workforce. We believe meaningful work is not just employment, it is work that aligns with who you are and contributes to something larger than yourself.

  • Thriving Communities and Ecosystems

Lasting change is not built by individuals alone. It is built by the communities, networks, and organisations that surround them. We invest in strengthening the ecosystems that young Africans live and work within, connecting organisations, creating networks, and building the infrastructure that allows communities to generate and sustain opportunity from within rather than waiting for it from outside.

Our Approach

Our work is guided by the RISE Framework, a model we designed not just to describe how we work, but to shape how young Africans build resilient, empowered lives and communities.

R

Resilience

We invest in mental wellbeing tools and frameworks that help young people adapt, endure, and grow through challenge.

I

Innovation

We adopt solutions designed for other contexts, we design with young Africans for the realities they actually live in.

S

Sustainability

Projects that champion genuine long-term impact that outlast programs, funding cycles, and any single generation.

E

Empowerment

Giving people the agency, tools, and confidence to shape their own lives and communities.

Programs and Initiatives

We don’t try to pay off youth. We build structured programs that move young people forward in their wellbeing, their careers, and their capacity to learn.

Frequently Asked Questions

R-WEF is the Reboot Wellbeing and Empowerment Foundation, a pan-African nonprofit built to close the gap between where young Africans are and where they have the potential to go. Our work is organised around three pillars: Mental Wellbeing Systems, Pathways to Empowerment and Meaningful Work, and Thriving Communities and Ecosystems. Everything we build is grounded in the RISE Model: Resilience, Innovation, Sustainability, and Empowerment.

Africa’s education system teaches young people how to pass exams. It does not teach them who they are professionally, what they have to offer, or how to navigate the world of work. At the same time, mental health support for young people remains largely inaccessible and disconnected from career development. The communities and organisations meant to support young people are often under-resourced and fragile. R-WEF exists to address all three gaps through programmes and systems built specifically for young Africans, not adapted from somewhere else.

We serve young Africans, particularly university students and recent graduates, who feel the gap between their education and the opportunities they are trying to access. People who are talented and driven but have not had the right environment, tools, or support to translate that into real progress. Our work reaches participants across various African countries and we are building toward a truly pan-African presence.

Our flagship programme is Growth Beyond Grades, a six-week personal and professional development programme for university students and recent graduates. It covers professional identity, career clarity, communication skills, digital literacy, goal setting, and personal positioning. It is free, fully online, and open to young people across Africa. We are actively developing new programmes across all three of our core pillars. Watch this space.

R-WEF is funded through individual donations, grants, and partnerships with organizations that share our commitment to community wellbeing.

We collect data at every stage of our programmes. Before a programme begins we gather baseline information on each participant’s career clarity, confidence, and professional readiness. At the end we measure the same things to understand what changed. We follow up with alumni after graduation to track real-world outcomes. We are a young organisation and we are building our evidence base with every cohort.

Yes. R-WEF is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, RC: 9220982. We are also a verified Google for Nonprofits partner. We operate with formal governance structures including a Board of Trustees and we are committed to full transparency in how we operate and how funds are used.

We welcome partnerships with organisations serious about investing in young Africans. There are different ways to partner with us depending on what your organisation wants to achieve, whether that is sponsoring programme delivery, co-designing initiatives, or supporting our growth as an institution. Visit our Get Involved page or reach out directly at info@r-wef.org to start a conversation.

There are several ways to get involved. You can apply to a programme, volunteer your skills, become a mentor to participants, donate to support our work, or apply to join our Youth Advisory Board if you are between 18 and 30. Each pathway has a clear role and a real contribution to make. Visit our Get Involved page to find the right fit for you.
